Under the climate control, wher eyour cigerette ashtray is, you can custom mount the deck there.. there is more than enough room behind there.. You just have to make a trim out of fiberglass which is not that hard...
Do you think it would be tough to remove/insert cd's when the shifter is in the 1st/3rd/5th gear position? (I'm assuming you have a manual)

it wouldnt be much of an issue....theres plenty of space....great thing
for us manual owners is that since we tend to rest our hands on the shifter, a
the HU controls would be a finger stretch away

LOL... ever since this crazy @ss x-box installation, i had to rethink the way the maxima was designed

I interfaced my 2k3 steering wheel controls to my xbox to contorl the media center on the XBOX...

Makes fore SMOOTH EASY SAILING!!

I also interfaced my power invertor so that even when i start my car, the X-BOX won't die, and in addition, will shut down in key off (thank you diodes!!)

You know, you're absolutely right...didn't even think about it that way...that's hot, I'm eagerly anticipating seeing how that works out for you. I was going to learn towards a PC-based solution, but if a HU can fit in that space, I may consider that as well.

Any updates? I'm getting ready to start my install. I just have to pick up my HU and power inverter. I'm going to do a small write up on it but I was just seeing how everyone else's is going.

Here it is, finally. I'm not totally finished with all of it but the TV and HU part is done. I just have to fab up a piece to hold my hazards and switches. I'll post another thread tomorrow with details.

I'll so some pics of the making. I made it out of foam and fiberglass. My buddy and I got some foam from a craft shop to make the mold of what we wanted. After we got the shape down we then started to lay the fiberglass. I think we layed 3 or 4 layers to get it where we wanted it. Afer we got the fiberglass down right, it was time to cut out the holes for the HU and TV. The HU was a little tricky because it was deeper than the the fiberglass piece it's self. It doesn't show it in the pictures but we had to cut the back out of the piece. We we attached it to the piece with some braces on the side, also for security. After cutting out the holes it was time to bondo it and sand it. We used bondo to build up any low spots we had to make it nice and smooth. That takes a long time because the slightest little imperfection shows. We finally got it as good as we were going to get it so I primered it and painted it. As you can see the AC controls are down really low. I acutally had to cut off plastic on the sides and the bottom to get it to fit there. You can't tell it's been cut unless you look really really close. It doesn't fit perfectly but it works just fine. Here are some before, durning and after pics.

You can see in the last pic it's just sitting there for right now. I have to fab up another piece to go underneath the climate controls to hold the hazard lights and my switchs. I'm not sure when I'll get around to that but it won't be too far off.

ny96mx, thanks. I know I should have went with a beter HU but that was all I could afford at the moment. I will upgarde later and get a better one but for right now this one will work.

Thanks for the complimants guys.
