how do you hook a RCA converter in a 2002 max?
i have tired and tried, but i can not seem to get it working correctly. sometimes it seems like the signal is too low, and then other times it seems like i am getting high pas into the subs. this stinks! in the 2002 maximas, there are no speakers in the rear deck, so i can't tap into them like i did in the last maxima. i tired to tap into the rear sub, but it didn't work. what wires do i have to tap into? thanks

i do not know what a PAC converter is.
right now it is not hooked up in fear of blowing a sub. but i had it hoked up to the factory bose sub. i spliced into the wires for the sub (black and white) and tired it that way. but it didn't work. and then i took it to circuit city and they took out the main wire harness from the main amp and they spliced into a couple of wires and the subs worked, but they were very weak sounding. then they tired two other wires, and the bass was very strong, but it was getting full range. i do not know what to do.

PM Studman he can tell you everything about the PAC convertor and other stuff about using stock HU. Basically the PAC convertor goes between the HU and bose factory amp allowing to hook up other amp. He is the one to talk to about it.
ok, i just got back from the store, and they wanted $50 for the pac converter!!! ahhh...
this stinks. why is it so pricey? how does it differ from a rca converter?
i don't have extra money to spend right now...

I think I solved your problem. When hooking up to rear speakers to make RCA's like you did the first time you got high pass through the subs correct. Reason I believe is cause you are using a signal of a amplified speaker since the bose system is amplified. The bose amplifier is a high pass amp for all door speakers not a low pass amp for subs. I believe your best bet would be to get the PAC convertor. Another thing if you decide to get the PAC convertor is to make sure your amp turn on isn't connected to power antenna cause once you switch to CD it will turn off the amp cause your not using the antenna. To fix that all you will need to do is put your remote turn on wire to the accesory wire which is color purple.
There is no need for the PAC adaptor. You can either tap on a long set of RCAs and run them to the amp FROM behind the radio. Or a short set of females to make a more permanent preout. Doing this would require cutting the RCA leads and splicing into the factory speaker wires. AGAIN..BEHIND the radio.

Actually a LOC would also be useless as the Bose system send a signal, not a High level TO convert.

i do not understand why it is from behind the radio... wouldn't be the same thing if i just hooked it up right before it connects to the amp in the trunk? is there any way i can hook this up w/o going behind the HU? i really do not feel like taking all that apart.

Getting behind the radio is really quite simple. Its about a 3-5 minute job tops. But if you Must go to the amp for the wires then you need to tap thenm BEFORE the amp.

Good news! i finally got it working correctly! i took apart my dash,
and i made sure i was using the correct wires by looking at the back of the HU.
it turns out that i was not using the correct wires, so i hooked it up with the right wires.... and it worked!
imagine that! lol. but not my bose HU is giving me a error code 04.
i can not play cd's, eject them, or change them.
any idea's? thanks for all your help guys!
