HU swap with volvo?

how involved do you think it would be to replace a maxima double din hu with that of another manufacturers?

Friend has a stock double din Volvo hu and asked me if I wanted to replace mine with it. Is it even doable? I know they use two diff. harnesses, but maybe they can be spliced?

I put a dbl-din Nissan HU in a Hyundai Tiburon. You'll need 3 things: Reverse harness to plug into the Volvo HU, antenna adaptor (nissan uses diversity, i don't think volvo does), and regular harness to plug into your maxima.
The best place to go is talk to this guy: http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAP...=off&fromasq=1
Tell him you have a volvo radio that you want to put into a nissan. He will tell you which harnesses you need to buy and he's got the best prices I could find.
Here's the pic of the 2001 Altima radio in a 2003 Tiburon. Perfect fit, no hassles at all.

Thanks jae for the 411. That altima radio doesn't look that bad. It's 6 disk too! Maybe I should look into it.

Well the radio was given to me for free and I kinda like the idea of having a stock look. This is until I have enough to splurge on the new eclipse double din dvd units. Which will be awhile.

That was the same reason we went with the Altima one. I paid $200 for the one in the pic. I got one for myself off a 2001 Xterra for $100. Both were bought on ebay. Having an in-dash changer is very convenient. The closest aftermarket equivalent is a Blaupunkt 5cd changer and tuner for $350.
