Are PPI amps underrated?

I sold a pair of CVR's along with an amp and now left with a 12" Kicker S12L5 in a very small sealed box. But that's ok. What I need is an amp. I was planning on something that's aroun 600W x 1 @ 2ohm. PPI PCX1250 is 500W. Any one know if those are underrated? It seems like a very nice amp, I really like. Most likely that's what I'm gonna get (when/if my budget allows).
Any other options to power that L5?

Thanks!

a jbl 600.1 will pound that sub. under $200 and it puts out clean power without anything fancy.

Those PPI's are pretty spot on as far as ratings are concerned. They are tightly regulated.

I've heard a 12" L7 pound in a 5th gen off of a measly 320watts from two channels off a 4 ch Eclipse.....so 500 clean watts from that PPI is ideal....PPI
are sweet amps....and much more efficient and less of a power hog than the JL amp mentioned.....

PPI amps are rated at 12v source. your car will be running at more of a 14.4v so the amp will put out more power. and by the way, PPI amps are VERY underrated

JBL (*edit* not JL) amp was my first choice. Money vs. quality it beats many amps out there. PPI, on the other hand, tho a little more expensive, is one of the best amps IMO. So I think I'd rather save up a bit and get that.
Thanks for responses!

How about overall qulaity of their amps? It's just opinion is biased towards PPI's, I've heard some great amazing stories about them

Where do people get this stuff from. DO NOT GIVE ADVICE IF YOU AREN'T POSITIVE... please

PPI amps are no where near VERY underated. They are of a VERY tightly regulated design so that, down to around 10v, they output constant wattage. Now, this pertains to the amp you asked about and the powerclass series prior. There were an old series of PPI's (art series and those prior, I believe) that were of an unregulated design.

PPI amps have some of the highest damping factors out there, and they are built solid...they are some of the best amps for subs. I say go for it.
