I think I've decided on the Pioneer 6600, unless I find out someone has had problems with it, I can get it for under 200 on ebay brand new, which is in my budget. I'm looking at a couple US acoustics amps on ebay...what are some specs I need to look for to satisfy my needs.

And thezeb.com emailed me back, and gave me a great answer. Basically, "we don't know how long it's gonna be." I think I'll go ahead and place my order though, jsut in case they feel like changing the price when they get more in.

they should not change the price. but id go ahead and order them anyway. that h/u should be fine. pioneer is a reputable brand and its a good price for it. well your speakers will run at 4 ohms so you want like a 75x2@4 ohms or whatever wattage you want. i think the us 2100 is what alot of people choose to power the cdts with. oh and make sure it is rms power, not peak.

OK a few more questons, and I'll leave you alone I swear : )

Crutchfield.com says I need an amp wiring kit, is this true. If so, is 30 bucks a good price? Where is the best place to buy a cheap, good quality pocket for under the HU? And also, since I'm BOSE, do I have to buy all new wiring? If so, where can I get that? Thanks.

im not 100% sure on the bose thing, but if you replace the h/u, speakers it should be fine. you need rcas, power, ground and a remote wire. and id look into metra dash kits. i like mine and it was easy to install and very cheap. i found al my wiring/dash stuff at autotoys.com.

Also, I heard that the radio reception isn't good with aftermarket HUs...I listen to morning radio sometimes...is there an adapter I can get to make it clear.

I have a Pioneer (5500) headunit and didn't notice a drop in radio reception at all. I did have to buy an adapter to get the stock antenna plug to go into my new headunit but it was only ~$10 from circuit city. The only other thing about the antenna that you should probably know is that some, if not all, Pioneer HU's do have an antenna wire which is used to raise power antennas (if applicable) but they are a constant power source whenever the headunit is on. That means the antenna is always up when the HU is on. I fixed that by putting it on a switch but it is something you should look into before buying a specific headunit.

note: I originally said the adapter came from radioshack but it really came from circuit city.

Hmmm...well I just bought the Pioneer 6600 brand new for 197.50 shipped. It was a bidding war the last two minutes, but I was determined. I probably oculd've gotten it for cheaper if I waited, but bidding is so fun.

As far as the wires...I'm still not sure what I need, I couldn't find it on that site you gave me slick rick. If you could direct me to a link, that'd be great. Since I'm probably gonna get it installed at Best Buy, would they have the wires there?

do not, under any circumstances get it installed there. go to a circuit city. so are you gonna buy parts and then give all of them to whereever you go to install them? because if you do they may be jerks about pricing because they want to make up lost money for not buying the supplies there. circuit city did it and then i said **** them and installed it myself. but my CC down home was alot better. so id research what shop your gonan get stuff installed at, tell them what you have, and see what they say for pricing. and radio reception should not drop, although i never listen 2 the radio, but i have tested it before.

I just went to Best Buy, Circuit City, and Hifi Buys. They all quoted between 200 and 210...but Circuit City quoted an 8 guage amp wiring kit for 80 bucks...the other places didn't quote that. Do I need it, and where can I get it for cheaper than 80 bucks, that sounds expensive.

Yep, I was pretty disappointed. If that wha they all want, then I guess that's what I'll pay...but I wasn't looking to spend that much. They also wanted 50 bucks for the dash kit and something else for the HU...it's adding up quickly.

Aw crap, for some reason crutchfield isn't selling the us acoustics 2100 anymore. Can anyone suggest a similar amp for a similar price (100)

You're a lifesaver man. My HU arrived today, it's pure beauty. What's going to kill me is ahve it sit in my room until all my stuff gets here. And thezeb finally got the ocmponents back in, so i ordered the speakers today...So amp and amp wiring and maybe dash kit are all I have left. I'll definitely give that amp a look.

So how do the USX 2100 and the JBL P-180 compare? Do you have a personal preference?I think either of them will do for just the components.
