Tweeter material and their sound output
I'm thinking of getting some tweeters to add a little bit more to my highs, but there's a lot of material used. What the basic characteristics of tweeters made from silk, titanium, and ceramic dome? Thanks for any input.

There are good and bad tweeters made from all of the materials that you listed. You are going to have to narrow your search critera to those that will fit where you want them to go, on and off axis frequency response, cost, and how low you want to cross them over. There were a few posts on here about guys using a smaller Morel soft dome tweet with good success. Can't remember who, but hopefully they will post.
Oh yeah and there is a common misconception that all metal domes are harsh, don't fall for it.

titanium tweets tend to be harsher, but it all depends on the install. i myself am a fan of silk domes. people say they are not good for off axis response (in my apillars) but cdt claims they are good for off axis and i agree with them.

how do u plan on adding them electrically? you will change the system impedance if you just simply wire them in parallel with a filter capacitor...you'd need some sort of Zobel network to match the impedance.

I was just going to power then with my smaller amp and just set the crossover freq on it to high pass (unless you guys have a better suggestion, I'm all open)
My Bostons up front provide some nice highs, but still seem to be lacking for my taste. I was looking at the Kappa ceramic metal tweets. I'm not looking for something TOO harsh. I gotta find a place and have a listen
Thanks for the replies so far
