What are some good grounding points for a sub in the trunk?

Does it matter if some of the cloth trim touches the ground? Probably not since the ground is the chassis and the chassis touches the cloth.. hehe..

A few places I've seen are the trunk latch, the metal edge inside the jack compartment, and those big bolts under the floor mat near the rear.. not sure which to use. It'd be real nice if I didn't have to drill anything.

Recommendations?

just figure out where you want your amp and use the closest bolt near it, EXCEPT don't use seat belt bolts. that's fairly self-explanatory.have fun.

My amp is mounted on the center of the seatback (in the trunk). Does the bottom of the rear deck make a good enough ground if the paint is scraped away?

I don't see many bolts in my trunk =) except those seatbelts ones, <g>, those were the first I saw.

Any bolt is good as long as you make sure there is no paint on the metal. The best way to go is to sand down the area to bare metal and then attach the ground to it with a bolt, nice and tight.

BTW, just an update. I ended up grounding to the metal rear seat support bar right behind the cover. Was easy to drill in, was already free or grease and paint, nearby and clean looking.

So far I haven't had any problems with noise. That's with both the amp and the inverter grounded, but not the computer.

Before I knew anything about cars and/or electronics, I thought when someone ground something, they actually used the ground(cement floor).

do you think the bolts wont handle the stress in case of an accident? what's the deal? i had 3 1/0 gauge cables mounted to a seat belt bolt.

You'd have to drive pretty slowly and make sure you had a long-*** ground wire...
