Looking for new a sub and box, ideas?

Im getting rid of my 2 15s b/c I dont need that much bass anymore and Im tired of it taking up my entire trunk. I want to get something small and clean, maybe single 12" sub but a good one, or maybe even two 10s? What is out right now that will give me a good clean sound? And are those newer box's anygood? The ones w/ out any carpet that have a black coating on them?

I want whatever I get to fit in the back portion of the trunk, thanks for any ideas and help!!

two 10" image dynamics IDQ subs will sound very accurate in a sealed enclosure. For the two subs, you are only looking at one cubic foot of enclosure for the pair. I had this setup in my previous car with 200 watts per sub... sounded wonderful and well balanced with the rest of my system. The 2 tens would take up the same enclosure space as the single IDQ 12. I'm a big beliver in image dynamics - love their products.

Im gonna be using a JBL 600.1 amp to run whatever I get, and yes I want a sealed box. i want them to hit nice and crisp and be responsive. Im trying to get a clean sound now. I think the box i was talking about is called a "ProBox", an audio shop down the road sells them, they are MDF and have a black spray coating on them so when you knock on it it "reverbs". I would like to spend $250-$300 since thats what im selling my 15s for.

Ive Only had alot of 12s or 15s in the past for crazy bass drops. I listen to mostly rock now but still want to be able to have them thump so would two 10s be my best bet? Thanks all!!!

is the JBL 1ohm stable? IF not just go for dual 2ohm IDQ10's.

I love the IDQ's, the only problem i have with them is that they are too linear for my tastes. They don't 'hit' that well either compared to the other subs i have had/have IDQ12 vs (elemental designs e12o, JL w6 / w6v2 ).

If you listen to jazz i would think the IDQ's would be unbeatable. For rock i would take my Ed O series over it just because it seems to work a lot better on the drum and bass notes.

The IDQ is amazingly clean... if you are a freak for a linear sound the IDQ is for you

If you are used to having multiple 12s or ever 15s in your car, I don't think you will be satisfied with 10s. They just don't go low enough. At least that is what I thought when I tried to do what you are talking about. I ended up running a single 12, but not just any 12. Save up some more coin and try getting a RE XXX12, Brahma 12, or ID Max 12. You might even try the Elemental Designs 12. All these can go in a sealed box around 1 Ft^3 and still have impressive output.

how much do those run and are they clean and crisp and responsive? I dont want "bass lag". What about a single W7 or W6 12". Is it possible to get it to be like I want AND have the ability to drop and hold the low notes? Or am I just wanting too much?

I hate the set-ups all the local audio places have in their shop b/c its not gonna sound the same in my car. And most people just have sytems where its crazy bangin bass not clean distinct bass hits

You can get a Brahma either from Adire directly: www.adireaudio.com or for this other place http://www.acoustic-visions.com/~aco.../adire_brahma/

Resonant engineering XXX is available from www.respl.com

JL is available everywhere. Just a bit pricier than the others. Last checked a Brahma 12 will run you 379.00. Can't speak for the Resonant products, you will need to give them a call and ask.

I am waiting to see an actual production model of the Elemental sub before I make any comments. They are boasting some pretty serious numbers, though.
