Subs on the rear deck Question.
Subs on the rear deck Question.
Do you think that it'll be a tacky sounding if I placed 2 6.5" subs on my rear deck to acompany my component set in the fronts. I don't think that I'll ever be placing speakers on the rear deck anymore because I never have rear seat passengers and I wont have to buy a box. I am also aware that some serious MDF will be needed for this setup to prevent rattling. I know some people have 8" subs in their rear decks so hopoefully I can get some info from them too.
You can put some subs on the rear deck, but they will have to be free-air use compatible. They also cannot handle as much power as their other counterparts. If you are wary of losing trunk space, just get a pair of 8's or 10's in a small sealed box. It won't take up much room, and IMO you will be happier with the results.
I was thinking of doing the same thing. two 6.5's and a 12. I really don't care about power handling because I saw some that only use up to 100w per pair. My HU will handle that until I can get some more powerful 6.5's and another amp. My components are being handled by my 300watt amp. My HU power can be of some use so why not use it.
You might get lucky on the HU power. My midbass are 100RMS and under HU power they distort and make very little bass. They are getting 70w each from my amp right now and they are begging for more power, they crave more power lol
