Installing subs in a 97

Hey guys I just recently bought a 97 max se and i've really enjoyed it for the most part. I've been finishing up school and haven't had the time to install my subs from my previous car. My max has the non bose setup and just lacks the ability to play at high volumes as most of you know. It really tops out in the bass ranges at high volumes so I'm lookin to add the subs asap! Now on my old car i ran the power line through the steering boot so that I didn't have to bother drilling anything and it worked great. If theres an easier way to do this on my max I'd love to hear it. Also my amp doesn't take line level inputs, anyone know how much a line level to rca converter thingy is gonna run me? I had planned on just splicing off a rear speaker. This is temporary thing till i can get to work and make some dough for a new headunit.
