Alternator Ground & ALT.S fuse questions
I have paid the Nissan dealer and a local shop $2,000 to fix a current draw or charge failure problem, but the car is still not working. I performed the Big 3 and added a few more grounds, and now have two issues:
The wiring diagram on page EL 30 of my 1998 Maxima FSM shows a separate ground wire leading to the E terminal of the alternator, but I don't see anything like that on my alternator, which my dealer assures me is a brand new Nissan unit. It would be nice to see a photo or get a clear description of the ground wire at the E terminal so I can confirm if my unit has been miswired during installation.
While checking fuse locations for parasitic current draw, using my multimeter on the mA range, the multimeter's fuse blew at the ALT.S location. That's either normal or I have a problem.
The ALT.S fuse location is always HOT in my fuse box. The FSM seems to say that this is normal; but please confirm if it is; and if it is not normal please suggest what might be wrong.
Thanks!
