Amp Q

I have a Sony HU, Pioneer 6.5's in back, and Pioneer 4x6's(Stock size)in the door's. I would like to get close to the sound of the Bose out of this setup. Would a small amp help? If so, how should I go about setting it up? Any recomendations on an amp?

Thanks.

you won't get bose sound, their crossovers in the stock amps are pretty well defined in terms of frequency cuttoff's and what not. you could TRY but thats no gaurantee that it would work. but a small amp DEFINATELY wouldnt hurt

That's about what I thought. What kind/range of crossovers should I use?

Would that work well for a setup w/o subs?

ya i think so, at least with my sub off there is still enough bass for me. however with the 4x6 u might want to crossover a bit higher like 200 hz

ur best bet is to get the highs and mids to a reasonable level that you would listen to comfortably, then mess with the crossover settings to even out the bass and load it into the soundstage as you feel sounds best to you with proper crossover points ur speakers can sound amazing

So, I ended up with a Phoenix Gold XL2300 2 Channel Amp.(Got it free from a friend) I hooked it up to my rears and the stereo does sound much better. Should I still be using crossovers? Also what about Bass and Sen. settings. Bass I get, but what exactly does the Sen. do, and where should I set it in relation to HU volume? Thanks.

sensitivity is the gain control i believe. you want the sensitivity to match your pre out voltage from the head unit. the higher the sensitivity the lower the sensitivity

So, how do I find the Pre out voltage for my HU, and how do I set the gain to match? Thanks.

its probably 2 volt you can look it up online if u look for the model number of your head unit on google. if the output is like 4 volts you'd want to keep the sensitivity at like 1/5 or so, if its 2 volts u'd want to keep it at like 1/2 to 3/4
