decent 6.5" speakers..what to buy?
im not lookin for ultimate, just want decent better then stock speakers and im not looking to spend much.. maybe round 50-60 bucks, ossibly strach a little more... but i was just wondering which brands i should look at for these types of speakers.. pioneer, polk, infinity..what do you guys think?

what amp are you planning on runnning to push the 6.5" speakers. I suggest for the price to try the planet audio p6250X(not sure if this is the correct product #) it's a coaxial speaker with a titanium tweeters. My friend is runnning it in his toyota truck and pushing it with 100 watts /channel amp and they are so clear and sweet. It retails for about $140 but you probably can get it cheaper.
Take a look at Pioneer's TSA series also.. they run $60-100 depending on which ones you look at and they sound pretty good.
plus since pioneer is everywhere, you can surely find a discount house that has them or something.

I grabbed a pair of Kenwood KFC-1677's for my front and they sound pretty good. I think these are in your price range as well. ($60-$75)
Hope this helps.
Also - try http://www.stereoliquidators.com/
they had the next model up for the same price.

hmm.. thanks briguy, i saw those on the KFC-1677's on that site and they seem like a good deal 54.50 inclding shipping. this sound like a good deal guys? i checked over at crutchfield and they have em for 69.95 so at least i konw its a better price then them (thats not hard to do heh) anyways, i think ill just do one last check around for deals and other brands and then i think ill end up buying these. heres the link to them on crutchfield..tell me what you think anyone else had experience with them? http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...FC1677&o=M&a=0
it could be beter too because my deck is also kenwood, i dunno whether this matters at all...

One more thing
Those Kenwoods (KDC-1677) do NOt just drop right in. I had to rip the plastic lip off the stock speakers to use as an adapter.. Wasn't hard at all but figured you might want something that you could drop right in.

hmm..thanks, i dont think that should be to much of a problem. what year do you have? im going to put these in my rear deck so i dont konw if it will be a direct fit there too. i can always drill new holes, or do what you did using that piece as an adapter...
so anyways, no complaints on the speakers? when you trun em up really loud do tey start cracking, or are they pretty tough? thanks for the input... oh and lastly, did you order off that site? and if you did how was the service and all (shipping time and stuff) thanks again.

I do like the way mine sound but they do get a little distortion when the volume is close to max. I don't have any amps in yet and I have an old Sony head unit (30w x 4)
Hope this answers all your questions.

If you drive a 4th gen, you'll have to buy oversized 6 1/2s.
I bought Rockford 1206 off of Ubid.com for (get this) $27 a pair brand new. They sound great.
Just my $.02
