alpine type r

My current setup is a jbl 600.1 and a 12 inch alpine type r in a sealed box. It's probably getting about 500 watts. Would it sounds better or be louder if i add another 12 inch sub into a sealed box? So each sub would be getting 300 watts rms. Thanks.

You know the answer to this one now

The real question is do you want to spend the extra money on another sub and give up the trunk space? I stayed with a single sub for trunk space.

my buddy has 2 12" type r's on a jbl 600.1 in his crappy hyundai and they can be loud enough to make you get out of the car. id run 2 of the type r's anyway because the rms is 300... i know they can take more but if you dont mind adding some weight and losing some space id try it out. also he had 1 12" type r on the jbl and he blew it... and when he added the 2nd it was def. alot louder.

Yup, Thanks Kojiro.

Slickrick, that's exactly where i'm at right now. I got another type r today. It should be arriving tomorrow. Now i'm gonna need to build another sealed box. The wiring is going to be tricky.

I have another question. So I wire both subs down to 2 ohms. Do i just then connect each to the amp like I would normally do? Even though it's a mono amp it has 2 pair of speaker outputs. If it just connect - to - and + to + on both subs then will the amp see a 1 ohm load?

the amp internally bridges them so just like you said is fine. with 2 DVC 4 ohm subs you get a 4 or 1 ohm load just to verify.

i'm putting them together now. one sub is different from another. on one the alpine words are white and the other is black. the gray cone on it is also different. one is a little darker than the other. is it just a newer model?
