12" Sub for 2k3

So I want to add one 12" sub to my 2k3, and I am wondering what the best way to go about it is. I am pretty good at figuring things out and making things work, plus I don't want to waste money to have it done. I know that I need a line output converter to de amplify the signal, but that's about all I know. Anyone have experience doing this themselves?

Oh, I have the Bose with a 6 disc. I want to keep the stock HU as well.

I have a 1000 watt Sony explode amp and a RF HX2 12" sub.

Then no convertor is needed. Simply splice the speaker leads behind the HU with female RCAs. Then connect to the amp as you would an aftermarket HU.
