Is Rockford still considered to be a good brand among music enthusiasts?

I have always purchased Rockford products and thought that they were a good brand. However, I haven't purchased anything in a couple of years and now I need new subs. I was going to go back to Rockford, but wanted to make sure they were still on top of their game. Opinions???

By the way, I don't want to spend anymore than maybe $100. per sub. 12inch.

They are decent. I'd say quality has gone down since they started being stocked heavily by Best Buy and such

I agree with most people. Even back in the days, their sub were't very good. I would buy rockford amps but for sub I would buy something else.

About 9-10 years ago their products were among some of the best. Now they are basically your typical mid line company at best. Pretty much anything seen/sold at Best Buy/Circuit City is your average level product.

Although when you say you want to spend $100 per sub, they may be good for you.

The new top of the line rockford amps are VERY solid and i am completely respecting them for their new amps. They ain't cheap though. 2003 models left a lot to be desired that's for sure

If your referring to the Type RF models, then yes they are alot better. Actually pretty good. Although you will not see to many of them available at stores. They start in the $700 range foir their smallest (75X2) and go up to $1739 (1000X1). A bit much for products as most will agree. Equal or better products can definately still be had for much less.

Their new Power series amps are massively underrated and are being delivered with some really impressive birth sheets. I read this one off the RF forum and he had pics of the paperwork backing it up. There are a couple other posts showing similar ratings for other power series amps too.

T15002:

Rated output / Actual Output
250 x 2 @ 4 ohms / 602 x 2 @ 4 ohms
500 x 2 @ 2 ohms / 1673 total @ 2 ohms, all channels combined
1500 x 1 @ 1 ohm bridged / 2710 total @ 1 ohm

The amps really aren't that outrageously priced either.

What were these ratings rated at?

Also....way too easy to make a birth sheet say anything they want...

14.4V...here's the link http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/forum...TOPIC_ID=14777

I don't think RF would inflate the figures on the Birth Sheet. These amps aren't targeted to the Best Buy crowd...they will be tested and measured repeatedly by SPL copmpetitors.

Not likely that most of the general consumers would be seeing 14.4, but in either event like someone there posted....MAYBE some of the older RF stuff is coming back. One could only hope.

Just find it interesting that they dont post too much info other than the size, power Ratings,etc...

I'd be careful with most of their amp products (or all of their amp products), they tend to get ****ed off and die under use.
