Why dont they work?
Why dont they work?
Hello all
I just installed an amp for my front speakers and now the rears dont work?
Here is my setup:
HU - Alpine CDA-9813
Front speakers: Infinity Kappa 60.5cs
Rear speakers: Infinity Refrence 6 by 9
Sub: Infinity Kappa 12.1d
Amps:
Alpine MRV-T420 2/1 Channel Power Amplifier
Alpine MRD-M300 Mono 1 Channel Power Amplifier
The only think new to the system is the MRV-T420. I am using the Pre-amp outputs from the HU and from the very first tesk everything worked fine except for the rear speakers which at this point are the only speakers not using a pre amp outout from the HU.
Does anyone know what may be causing this problem?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Gil

I am going to give that a shot. Thanks!!!!
Does anyone know about the 3WAY/@WAY switch feature?
Looking at the manual ther is a brief refrence to this feature, but there isnt much explination. Is this something I should use being as I have components in front?
Thanks

This switch is to choose the way in which you want to internal crossover to work. In 2 way mode you can have a low pass x-over frequency for your sub, and a high pass x-over frequency for your front and rear mids and highs. If you have front and rear speaker you want to choose 2-Way mode. In 3 way mode the headunit divides the audio signal into 3 frequency bands , low, mid(this is like a band pass, as it has both a low and high cut off frequency: mid-low & mid-high), and high. This is helpful if you are only running front component speakers and do not have, or want to use the the supplied outboard x-overs that they came with. In some situations (like when the mid is in the lower part of the door, and the tweeter is on the A-pillar, much closer to the listener) you can get better time alignment because you can actually measure the distance between the listener, tweeter, mid, and woofer.
Thanks, I will leave it as is. What tv tuner are you using and how is the performance. Your setup is pretty sweet

. I am using two Alpine TUE-T011A tv tuners. My Alpine monitors are a little older and were primarily intended to be used as navigation units (TME-M006SA), they plugged right to the navigation units. If you wanted to use them for video they required the use of the TUE-T011A tuners to be able to pass a video signal to them. Basically the tv tuners had the special plug that the monitors required, and each tuner only had one plug. The reason I bought this set up was that at the time they had a great deal on these systems, as they were introducing the new Alpine stuff. The system included one monitor, one vcr, and one tv tuner. I bought two setups and sold the second vcr on Ebay
. These things have been in my car for years and I have had no issues with either the tuners or the monitors. My kids hardly ever use the tv tuners, they prefer watching movies. I only use the tv tuner function if I am parked somewhere and want to watch some news or a game. The reception is ok, but not great. Sometimes I get pretty good reception, but that depends on what part of the city or county I am in. I would think that the newer Alpine tv tuners may have better performance than these, but from what I hear is that it is pretty tough to get good tv reception in a moving vehicle.
