under the seats

Can i drill directly under my seats? I am thinking of redoing my system and wanted to know if there is any fuel lines or anything under both of th epassenger and driver seat. I wasn't sure if all maxima's have the same basic design so I wanted to post this in 5th gen forum but I also posted in the sound forum.

Thanks,
Eugene

If you know the exact placement of your fuel lines and exhaust then your good to go. Sadly is that the fuel lines and exhaust sections run under the seats. Best thing to do is fabricate the bottoms of the seats with some ply board then mount what ever you want under the seat instead the floor. Plus if the floor gets wet you won't have to worry about your electric cuurent running through the water since you did a float mount.

I have an amp, terminal block, and a Battcap under my seats and they really aren't screwed down. You might be able to get by by using velcro and just sticking it to the carpet.

The only way to know for sure where everything is at is to crawl under the car and look.

Thanks fellas. I like the velcro idea very much and someone in the 5th gen forum also mention using a fake floor. I'll look into these ideas very closely.

I have my cd changer screwed down under the passenger seat and my processor under my seat. I cleaned the area on the bottom of the car where the screws came out of and used a good amount of black silicone sealant. I have not had any issues with water coming in, even when I have driven through partially flooded streets in Tijuana, Mexico.

I just used plastic zip ties. Cut very small slits in the carpeting around the mounting holes in whatever you're mounting. Works perfectly. You can barely see them (they're black) on the right side of the amp.
