I purchased all of my audio from Don (Pearl96Max). I purchased an Eclipse HU off of him along with my Diamond Audio Hex's in front and coaxes in the rear. It sounded good, but to be honest I was a tad disappointed in the audio quality. I thought it was the Diamonds as I have always purchased MB Quart's. I got in on a Sirius deal and got the free Panasonic gear. The Elipse had a problem with it's aux inputs and satellite radio. A quick call to Eclipse and they confirmed the problem and said it will be fixed in the new HU's. FM modulation for me Well the Panasonic started to have lots of problems after a year and a half so I decided to get a Kenwood Excelon KDC X879 HU and the Kenwood Sirius tuner and antaena. What a fricken difference in sound quality. The Diamonds sound phenominal now and the sound stage has been transformed. I wanted an Alpine HU, but since I just renewed with Sirius, I thought I would give the Kenwood a try. I'm glad I did. After talking to several Eclipse dealers, I have come to the conclusion that Eclipse is just like Bose is to Home Theater. Hyped up reputation for quality and sound without anything to back it up.

 

I have had Eclipse HU's for the longest and I have nothing but good things, however in the past two years I am seeing a huge down fall in Eclipse product, not to mention their customer support. I have the AVN piece in my car (Dual din NAVI, DVD, CD, etc) it is awesome looking but thats about it. Sound quality would expected to be somewhat ok, however it is terrible. I do feel I will buy another Eclipse unless is was Pre 2002.
