New Bose or After Market??

Hey - this is a two part question -

1) I have a 00 Max SE (57,000 miles) w/ Bose stereo...the CD player part of the unit died this week but no way I'm paying dealer price for a new one...A friend can get the Bose unit for wholesale but I need the part # and the dealer won't provide. Any idea how to get the part #?

2) Should I not replace the Bose and install something different? CD changer or replace the entire unit? I dont wanna spend alot of $$ but need a CD player!

I would search prior threads but can't donate $$ because that link doesnt work...any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!
ctmike

Check the classified/for sale section here on the org. There's always someone selling stereo parts. You'll prob pay a lot less than at the dealer.

bose speakers will work with the AM head unit
the thing is its gonna be REALLY loud because your speakers are already amplified...to reach the volume level of lets say.. '15' from ur bose, you would crank up your new radio to about... 6 or so

(:

it should be fine

but dont be surprised if 5 yrs down the road you pop the speakers....or in actuality, blow the amps

Thanks for the responses...What happens 1) if I keep the Bose head unit but add an AM CD changer? And 2) I have the button on the head unit for the changer and I heard that because I have the Bose the MAX is already wired for the changer...Is this true? Thanks Again!
