Ok, how about adding 6x9s w/ amp

I know i posted a thread about adding subs to the stock, another option would be to dremel out a mounting hole for 6x9's in the rear deck and use an amp to power them. I'm more keen on this, I don't want massive base, and I feel this would provide what I want.

What would the best way to be to send a signal to them, still do the same using a line converter to RCA to the amp, then just power the speakers... pretty much in the same manner as a sub?

Yep, unless you have a really old amp with wire terminals for inputs. Otherwise, you'll need the line converter for the RCA inputs. The easiest and best way.
