Bose Adapter - $70
Installation - $50
Double to Single Din Dash Kit - $15

For about 350 you can get the HU and the install kit/adapter with instruction on how to install them yourself from Crutchfield.com So there, just saved you $100 which would allow you to pay for the amplifier install

And you get a full warranty on the radio unlike at places like Ikesound. DOn't get me wrong, I shop at places like Ikesound.com all the time, but then I am not too worried about warranties

Theres absolutely no need for the Bose "adaptor". So there would save you $70.

Splice male RCA leads to the wire harness and plug it into the HU. Done.

Splicing RCAs into the wiring harness is not the easiest thing to do, especially for a beginner. Plus, using the adapter will allow everything to be put back nice and neat when the time comes to get rid of the car. Not to mention being a lot easier.

I used dons method and its all great. Use a metra adapter and you wont cut a single stock wire. Only cost about $10-$15.

But still, cheaper to do it yourself. Plus you learn something in installing it.

Splicing RCAs is just as simple as using the "adaptor". Just cut the leads of a set of RCAs and coonect them to the wire harnes (Metra 70-7550). Plug into the factory harness then into the preouts of the HU. I dont understand what wouldnt be able to be put back neat. Please explain.

Furthermore, when connect this harness, you need to splice the speaker leads of the Metra piece into the adaptor then plug in. The adaptor is unltimately the same thing as what I typically do, but avoiding the obviously more expensive route.

OK, maybe I am losing something, but RCA cables are very different than standard speaker leads. Just cutting off one end will yield a cable like this:

How do you wire that up to this adpater?

do like i did, get a HU w/o an internal amp, buy and external amp for the mids and highs, and then just run all new speaker wires to the back. i dont understand why he needs to splice the rca's, doesnt his HU have preouts to run the rca's to the back for the amp? im only 18 but i put my system in my 99 and all i bought besides my stereos stuff is the 2din-single DIN, wireing harness and antenna adapter, total cost-$35, learn to do it urself and save urself time and money.

the one wire in the middle should be the positive, the one wrapped around the outside should be the negative. How hard is that, hook the positive to the spot on the adaptor, along with the negative to the other.
