'99 Nissan Maxima Bose Wiring Questions
Gentlemen!,
Could you answer a couple of questions in regards to the wiring of a 1999 Nissan Maxima Bose System? The quest is to replace the HU and speakers in a 1999 Nissan Maxima(non-Bose) with a 1997 Nissan Maxima(Bose) HU and speakers.
First of all!!!... here's my progress report.... I have the non-Bose HU out!... both doors panels are off... including the back seat and rear seat/decking... I have the wiring harness from a salvaged 1997 Nissan Maxima installed... including the speakers and HU... and I have the following concerns:
1) can the power leads to amps for the front and rear speakers be combined... note: in reference to the salvaged wiring hareness for the rear speakers... the power(red) leads where combined to one conductor back to the head... the ground(black)... as far as I could salvage the wiring harness... was seperated?... don't know if this really matters?
2) does the front/rear speaker wiring need to be 2 conductor shielded?... all the Maxima's I observed at the salvage yard had shielded speaker wiring.... doesn't figure?... 12v dc... it's usually the case with industrial ac control loops in the same conduit runs!... is the signal affected at such low impediances?... or better yet!... is this required
3) where does the K wire "REAR AMP. ON/OFF SIGNAL" interface to the system?...
Regards,
Thomas

Man you should be counting your blessings that your 99 didnt come with the Bose package - they S*CK! as you'll see from looking around here most people have been having problems with their headunits and eventually replace them with aftermarket stuff. I would HIGHLY suggest you abort this opperation and replace it with a quality aftermarket stereo. Trust me and the rest of the org - bose s*cks.
