Constructive comments wanted

i finally did it. After weeks of reading threads here on the org I decided to add an amp and sub to the Max. Our local megastore here (Fry's) had a Powerzone Crunch PZN-2250 on sale for $79, a Polk GNX-124 12" sub for $39 and a 1.25 cf 3/4" MDF enclosure for $35. I wired it up, removed the bose amp baskets from the rear speakers and tapped into each speaker level output for the high level input to the amp and then reassembled the bose rears. I put the sub in the enclosure and voila, the whole thing works awesome! I mean it POUNDS. I listen to rock so I did this not to go boomin' around the 'hood but just to add some bottom and holy cow does it add bottom. There are some bass notes that kinda blur my vision, and I dont dare speed while listening because the rear view is useless. I know, I know, flame on cuz I'm a NOOB but this is unreal. Anyway, I've got a question: I understand what the low pass and high pass frequency adjustments are for but what's the difference between the EQ level and the input level? The input level seems to be a much more coarse adjustment than the EQ level. Also, since I am running the amp bridged, should I have it set on mono or stereo? The reason I ask is that there doesn't seem to be any difference at all. I normally believe in you get what you pay for but this system works great. Anyway if any of you want to give any other tips or you just want to rip this kinda inexpensive system, please do because I will enjoy reading either.

Aint here to give tips or rip on your system, But ill say that if it makes you happy, thats all that matters, Hell my Boss amp sucked really really hard, but for the 5 months it lasted it made me happy.

I want people to give tips or rip into what I've got or even laugh at my audio noobness. I guess what you might be implying is a longevity issue with this amp. The output does seem to be clean and it is powerful (450W RMS bridged). What I like most is now the sub system takes over the chore of putting out the lows, leaving the bose to handle the rest without distorting. Can anyone answer the EQ level or mono/stereo question?

98SterlingMax,

Yes, you should have the amp set to Mono if it's bridged into 1 channel.
The EQ adjustment is so you can fine tune the frequency of the bass. I usually set mine around 75hrz. or lower. Some people will say you lose out on some good bass frequencies, but I'm more into the low stuff.
The Level adjustment allows more power to get to the speaker. This adjustment is bias to your liking. The best advise I can give you hear is if the bass seems overwelming & drowns out the high's then turn the level adjustment down until the bass & high's sound resonable close. You may want to bass to be slightly louded then the other sounds being produced. It's all a matter of if you think it sounds good. Good luck!

That's what I thought...another thing I like is by flipping down the rear seat arm rest and ski pass-through, I get a nice port that the bass really comes pounding through.
