I found a factory Bose cd/tape deck out of a 99 and want to put it in my 97 but don't have amps and only the 4 speakers. I have the non bose tape deck. This is for my wife and don't want to get into all that. Just need to know if I can set that deck in and hook it up and have decent sound. I know most of the boss setups have 6 or 8 speakers and there are amps for each. Is there an internal amp in the deck itself? Can I use it without amps and just hook up my existing factory speakers?

Thanks in advance.

No it won't work. The Bose unit uses a low level differential/balanced output signal that is input to the small Bose amps on the speakers where it's amplified. There is no internal amplifier in the Bose headunit, instead it has this differential /balanced line driver circuit.

Also the Bose system uses switching relays at the amplifier to get power from the car's electrical system.

To retrofit a Bose headunit into a non-Bose equipped car you would need each Bose amplifier and switching relays at each location.
