I want to get components, i scoped em out and now i got the dilemma, i have a chioce between 5 1/4 or 6/5. same price so its just which is :

a) easier install, i DONT have bose ( i havae a feeling its obvios, the 5.25, but i dunno whether its equal process for either since im supposed to have 4x6's i there)

b)which will sound better?

once again it will just run off kenwood deck, 22 watts rms and the speakers im lookin at are kenwood KFCP602's for 99 bucks at http://www.stereoliquidators.com/

thanks for the help, appreciate it!

oh BTW, got the back speakers in, kenwood KFC-1677 and im very happy with them. sound exactly like what i wanted. thanks for the help before on choosin em.

hey Audio guys... i'm fed up with my bose sh*t and after having my door panels off for two weeks, finially have a solution for cramming 6.5"s in the doors. i took some 12- guage sheet metal, and the back of the stock bose pod and made a pretty nifty little pocket that mounts a 6.5 out of the way and with just enough space. i'll take pictures if anyone is interested.

also- i dont know why people think you have to take the back seat off to get to the rear speakers(6x9)... i bottom mounted mine by just removing a few bolts.

anyone have a nice headunit with dual preouts for sale? cheaply perhaps?

On the Non-Bose models 6.5" you HAVE to remove the seat because the speakers are top mounted and are unremoveable from the trunk.

Brandon: If you're not ever planning on adding an amplifier a 5.25" speaker will be fine really. The 6.5" though will give you a little more bottom end warmth. All you need to do is fabricate a mounting plate using either sheetmetal, plywood or MDF.

I'd rather choose 3/4" MDF as it will also cut down on resonances and vibration when you have it crankin....

sweet! thanks, i think i actually decided to go 6.5 because i heard its basically same install proceedure, and it will sound a lil better with the 6.5, so im down for that. thanks for your input though. cant wait to buy the speakers now haha, oh well next pay day ill put in the order.

oh and again for the non- bose, yea you do have to take off the back of the rear seat, just went through this..heh
