also, you can hardwire it with an FM modulator. Check out www.ipodlounge.com forums I know a guy with a max did it there and has a write up somewhere

I was wondering if someone can give me a bit more information. My stock BOSE keeps giving me the ERR message. I am thinking of installing an MP3 player...is it a difficult process or do I have to take out the entire stock BOSE unit?
thanks, guys.

can you connect the ipod'd headphone output to a tape output device (kind of like a portable cd player when hooked up to a car cassette player)?

the Alpine MP3(can play cd also) cost arount $500, found one online cheaper $388.
There is some kind of kit that allow you to connect the ipod and chearge it at same time to the Alpine.
It will play your Ipod as cd changer in the Alpine.

I wish got an Alpine, I am still waiting for the Pioneer kit to come so I got connect to mine pioneer.
