first time speaker installation need help...

hey guys. Well my CDT audio components just came in. So i have a question before a begin to install them. First of all i've never installed speakers before, so i will need as much help from you as possible. My max is a 97 nonbose. So i was wondering where is the stock cross over located at, and where should i put my new cdt crossover? Here is what i was planning to do: Take the + and - wires that go to the stock crossover, and run connect them to my new crossover, then just run new wires to my speaker, chich will be in the stock location, and to my tweeter, which i will probably mount over in the corner by the mirrors. Is that a correct approach? Also what's the right way of hooking up the wires to terminals on the speaker. Do i need some kind of connector, or how do you do it?

The non-Bose speakers don't have a crossover (it's just a mid with a wizzer cone in the middle- no tweeter). So all you have to do is remove the stock speaker and bolt your new mid in its place. For the xover, I always mount them (in the Maxima) at the top of the door sheet metal, directly above the mid. There is a "window" cut out in the sheet metal with some random holes above it. You can mount the xover with those holes or drill new ones.

i'm pretty sure that i have a nonbose maxima, cuz i didn't find any amplifiers. And when i removed the mid speaker it said 4 ohms on it. I believe bose speakers aren't 4 ohms right? But i still have a tweeter up by the handle. Is it hooked up differently then normal components, without a crossover?

just hook up the new components in the stock locations and mount the xovers where you please.

You have a stock tweeter in the door?

I found out that there is no crossover. There is only a resistor before the tweater. So now i have another question, how do you normally hook up wires to a speaker. Do you just solider two wires onto the connections on the speakers, or is there a better or maybe easyer way to connect them. thanks for the input.
