need help from the diamond guys!!!!!!!

i need help picking a sub to go with my D5 1200.1 amp.
its 1200 watts rms so i need something that will last. i was thinking about maybe an M6 or even a TDX. i had a M3 hooked up to it for like 20 minutes and it blew so i need something bigger. i was wanting to know that if i ran 2 M3's w/ rms or 1000 total, would the extra 100 watts on each sub be to much for them in the long run. is it going to be too much strain on them. i want them to last a while so i dont have to buy another, ive gone through 2 subs with this amp already and im not looking to go through any more. thanks for the help and for those who dont have diamond

no im not looking to match anything else up to it. i want to use diamond subs and thats it. thanks again

Go with two M6's or M5's if they are still around. Those wont blow, and sound way better than the M3's. Hope you can spare the extra change!

Reference your highly intelligent remark, I started using Diamond's speakers in '97. Their new stuff is very pretty put sounds like crud. Dollar for dollar there is much better stuff available. I don't care what people say about speakers, listen with your ears not your buddies, friends, cousins ears.

Do you want one sub or two? SPL or SQ or a combination? How much space are you willing to give the sub or subs to perform their best? How much money are you willing ot spend on the sub / subs and how much if anything on an enclosure or custom built box? Salesmen don't ask these questions because it hurts the sale process.

Sorry to bust your ***** man, but comparing Diamond and JL doesnt say much. Nobody will tell you to get rockford or infinity if you are cinsidering diamond. However what I think we have here is someone who thinks they know too much about audio.

Diamond isnt even close to being the best around, or one of the best. The M6 is a cheaper alternative to the low end of high end.

Again listen to your ears. Diamond makes great stuff compared to those you mentioned.

few things....
i personally still favor diamond. i have used them for roughly over a year now and am quite happy with their quality and craftsmanship. hexes make me happy, tdx's make me happy, and the 1200.1 i had was great, and the ONLY reason i changed was because it did not match the new setup i am working on. again, only reason. i'd still have it if that wasn't the case.

secondly, best is a word that we can not use in the audio section, because everyone has different tastes and well, someone will always go with one brand, no matter what.

i'll say i like my tdx subs. are they the best, well they could be to one person but not to another. i really don't care to know as i'm happy with how mine sound. they make me happy. i've heard other brands and they sounded nice too. doesn't mean i'm gonna change my mind. let's try to keep it open minded. if he wants to stick to DA, then let him. by advicing otherwise, you're not really helping out as much as just telling him what YOU like. i know that sounds annoying to some who really wanna tell us what they like, but he did reiterate how he didn't care, he was getting diamond.

3rdly, if you want a recomendation, maybe consider going for 1 dual 2-ohm TDX 12" sub and i think you'll be fine. i actually think it'd be a perfect match. it's a 1000w rms sub but has been supposedly tested beyond 2000w before finally sizzling to a freezing halt

POLO I LOVE YOU, u saved me a bunch of time explaing to these other guys why i wanted diamond. i was mistaken sayin the best, but its a personal opinion. any way, i was think a TDXD2 12", cause the D51200.1 runs at 1 ohm right, so that sub ran from dual 2 ohms coils can run 1 ohm.the one thing im concerned about is this amp can peak at almost 2400 watts, thats alot for any sub to handle, will the tdx be ok? i dont know what kinda box to use with it either, will my vented box be ok till i get the cash to drop on a new custom built box? thanks again polo. gave me the info i needed.

Properly set your gains and you'll be ok, dont give power too much thought (speacially peak power) also consider that you will not see full power from a 1200.1 on a stock alternator anyways.....If you are going for a single TDX, I recommend you consider a transmission line box, they knock!

to add to manny's info, you won't be seeing 100% power on the 1200.1. i was discussing this with a friend yesterday while working on my amprack. looking at it from an efficiency point of view, you may use 1200w of rms power, but you'll only produce 6-700 due to efficiency levels. figure 60-70% efficient.
so no, don't worry about it.

you dont 'need it', hell you dont 'need' a system....

From experience, A single TDX in a tranny line enclosure will yield best SQL- same concept as in Marco's enclosure design
