The amp i am getting says it is 500 watts RMS at 12.5 and 800 watts RMS at 14.4 is there a way to change voltages i have a 95 Maxima im not saying i know what my voltage is but how does it change

 

The voltage changes when you turn your car on and off. Off = ~12.5V; On = ~14.5V. Amps with unregulated power supplies will produce more wattage with more input voltage.

voltage drops when there is more current demanded than there is available.

 

Actually just by turning the car on would not produce 14.5V. Depends what else is on, like the post above states. But more importantly you will only get that at higher RPMs. At idle expect maybe mid-high13 range.
