alrite, so i got an aftermarket headunit. before i had a high low adapter connected to the rear bose which ran to the amp then to the sub. now i ran the rca from the headunit to the amp and it doesnt play that loud as when i had it from the bose. wat can cause this problem?

i didnt purchase it my friend gave it to me, its an old sony xplod tape deck player, on the back there are 2 sets of rcas i think one says bus in? but one of the rcas go to the cd changer, and the other rca was supposed to go to the amp, but i did not connect that one because it plays the sub too low, so i just sticked with the hi low adapter

"WHAT, PLAYS THE SUB TOO LOW?" I've never heard of that being a problem before lol.

sorry about me not being clear, but the rca from the deck to the amp plays the sub low. when i run the rca from the rear bose speaker to the amp to the sub, it plays way higher, and basses alot more.[the rcas from the bose are run from a hi low adapter from my previous install when i had my stock head unit]

Like Don & I mentioned it's caused by too low of a voltage from your RCA preouts. I'm not sure if running the line convertor is the optimal way to go, but it's deffinitly gonna produce more then 1v. More then likely it's in the 4v range or higher. I'm not really positive about yours. I know those line convertors can vary as far as output voltage is concerned.
Maybe Don can better help you with this, but I'm thinking it might be better to use the RCA preout from the deck & then hook up a line driver instead of using the line convertor. I'm not sure if this will be benificial enough to justify spending around $100 bucks for a line driver, but if it will increase the SQ & volume inside the vehicle you might wanna check into it. I know alot of those line booster can produce around 8volts for the outputs which would deffinitly help things out a bit.
Hit Don (Pearl96Max) up with a PM to see what his opinion about it is & what he recomends is the best route to take. I say upgrade the HU, but I know your on a budget. So it's gonna be up to you???
