That amp is only 35 watts rms x 4. Not enough power for those speakers. Not by a long shot. Bridged, it will only be 70 watts rms x 2 at the most. Pay attention to RMS ratings, not maximum wattage.

Find an old kicker zr 360 or 600 (overkill)...maybe even a 240 could satisfy your needs, and they're cheap as hell on e-bay (when someone sells one).

problem...too much distortion at high volumes due to inadequate power (not enough headroom), or bad wiring, or bad H/U S/N ratio or THD...get one JL 10w7, and a JL 500/1...it will absolutely slam....have excellent SQ, take up less space than most two 10" setups, it will last longer than most other subs, and cost you under a grand for the whole sh-bang....hell....I'll sell you three 10w6s with a Kicker ZR 600 for $1,000....I used to be an installer...gain has been set below 1/4 for its whole life and it will be loud enough...if properly installed, to drive you out of your car...and the sound....cleaner than a virgin's panties...

JL Subs are not good for SQ are you out of your mind...image dynamics, is the best bang for ur buck, hook up a good amp and a good set of speakers in kick panels and u will have amazing sq, i would suggest a set of DLS components in the front. nothing in the rear. one 10 or 1 12 inch ID max sub and zapco amps to run everything

Longboarder...You have illustrated to me how little you know about SQ by suggesting Zapco amps, especially over the Kicker zr series or XS...nothing need be said in defense of JL w6's or w7's SQ. If you've heard these and they sounded poorly they were not set up properly. I spent a long time on a longboard, but I've spent much more installing high end audio systems.

You've got distortion when you pump up the volume because your receiver deck is far too weak to power your Type S. It gives out 18-22 W RMS per channel at best, while your Type S are 50W RMS. You will need 4-channel amp and more sound deadener to get good clean sound, and a sub of course.

If you gonna install 2 amps, you WILL want a capacitor (sp?), in order not kill your battery and laternator too soon... they are under 100 bucks on eBay.

P.S. I did some research, Rooney...!

Nah, that's a 2 channel and too strong. Look for 4 channel, A used amp from a reputable company should fit your budget.

Don't know, I'm looking too now. Maybe some used kenwood or alpine, or clarion would do as well.

Distortion comes in not soley because of lack of power from a HU, but the distortion level itself is quite a bit higher on ANY HU over an aftermarket amp. Running two amps Does Not mean that you will need a cap, in most cases theyre useless anyway. They are a simple bandaid for a car lacking elsewhere. BTW I run 4 amps...I have no cap.

I take my words back about the capacitor...

Hey Don, are you running power wire from the battery or from alternator?

the entire zr series has impressed me...but with adequate wiring, H/O alternator, and second battery, it is ungodly strong, cleaner than any digital amp and as you said bullletproof....
