The Q factor is the way the speaker controls resonance as a system. It factors in the Electrical (voice coil), Mechanical (driver suspension), and finally the resistance of the air within the box. People don't normally mess around with the first two, but the amount of air in the box can be changed to chage the third. A Qtc of .707 is often used as a design goal and programs like WinISD will use that value as target, since it is considered optimally flat. If you want to play around with different Q factors, you can download WinISD and simulate them.

There are really trade offs to all alignments. A low Q alignment <.707, sounds boomy in a car (to me anyway) since it has excellent low end extension at the cost of less higher end output. A higher Q alignment >.707, sounds punchier since it emphasizes the higher end at the cost of low frequency extension.

However, when you add the cars natural transfer function into the mix things tend to change. That's also why people prefer low Q or even IB aligments in a home (room gain corner frequency isn't nearly as high as cabin gains).

If you are serious about learning more about this I suggest pick up a copy of the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook. It really is an excelent little book that explains things much better than me.

There's a place in there to change your input voltage. It's labeled like "power into 8Ohms" or something like that. You need to change that. You also need to check to see how you have your voice coils connected. The program allows for them to be either in series or in parallel.

yeah i was playing with it and i think i have it... although it showed the subs not being able to handle the power in 1.5 cubes each. i still have some work to do. i can also attest to the car stereo cookbook... interesting read.

The Brahma seems to be a little more better in SQ and the XXX more so in SPL

Cant go wrong either way Just pick which 1 you thing looks better IMO. Both are XBL_2 subs. The XXX can take a bit more power, but they need a larget box to work their magic. The Brahma is a bit more efficient but regardless both are sweet.

As for the sound of the subs, its NOT possible to "accuratley" reproduce the sound & feel of a sub on a vid

Nice vid, perhaps one day ill get enough time to record mine as well, if only I can find a song that plays low enough to move the sub That same song, LNT. The sub barley moves on my setup

Slickrick: The wattage rating is somewhat deciving, my setup with 1200 going to it cant even take that much power for too long. I cant play LNT longer then 1min & 30sec be4 I get that "smell" warning me to turn it down.
Ive pretty much learned the limits of the sub & how far I can push it w/o getting the VC's hot.

As for overall power, if your talking about how much power the sub can handle for say, and SPL test, 1600 is just getting started. You can jam these subs with more then 5kw of power for a brief test. Not recommended ofcourse, but you can

Play some IASCA tracks...or a 40Hz test tone...that'll get your sub moving

Not at much as you'd think Once I get under 25hz, then ill get it moving quite a bit. So far the deepest song ive played is Ludacris-Get Back, but I havnt opened my trunk to see how much the subs moving, one things for damn sure, that song is deeper then LNT. Im talking mid-low 20's

Its lower then LNT which hits the 30hz area at some points. Its definetly deeper then that, thats why I say mid-low 20's. Yes my box is ported, tuned to 28hz. I can play down to about 21hz be4 I hit xmax
Im not so sure how smaller subs will play that song, but its just low in my car. Its not as loud as LNT, but it shakes things a bit more...if thats even possible
