Replacing stock bose headunit with aftermarket, and keeping bose speakers, questions
Alright so my stock bose headunit is making a really annoying noise from the tape deck and i have no clue how to fix it so i am going to purchase a new headunit. i have heard that there are a few headunit replacements that you do not need a converter such as the ROEM-NIS2, is that true? if so i have heard that many if not all alpines are able to be used without the converter, being as they have the 4volt preamps, am i correct still? So now if that is the case i am looking into getting the CDA-9833, with that will i be ok? also will the stock bose speakers be alright with this headunit? heres the link for the headunit http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WuAars2...01&search=9833. any feedback on that headunit or models that are very similar such as the 9835 or 9831 would be greatly apprectiated.

i have a alpine myself. since you have bose you have to do couple things:
find where your amp for the speakers are (usually in the trunk next to your sub.)
use a 9v battery and tape wires to the terminal (this will "pop" your speakers to find
out what wires are the speakers.)
alot of pATience to find the speakers, prolly need another person to tell you where the speakers are popped
the speaker will be 2 wires wid (-) and (+)
they usually are same color/pattern bbrighter colors=(+) darker (-)
strip the wire of the speakers so that it does not go back to the amp (this is how you bypass a oem amp)
after this dont plug the plug back the amp and sub is useless...well for me anyways
once you taped it CLEANLY (do it right or dun do dat ****)
it should work, but when i did mines the sub didnt work so i sold it

I have an Alpine XM/CD headunit in my I30 and am using the Bose speakers. All that needed to be done was to bypass the Bose Speaker amps and use the headunit amp. Or you could bypass the headunit amp and use the Bose speaker amps. Either way.
Basically, you CAN have an aftermarket headunit in our cars and still use the Bose speakers despite what some people out there say.
