i have a pioneer hu and it sounds when ever it feels like it, i went to a place to get it installed andi dont know what they did, the ground was attach to the metal behind all the plastic were the HU goes and the HU will turn on one day and another day it wont, i took it to the place and something supposely burnt inside and they had to soldere it back, but one guy told me that the speakers are to blame and that with an amp it will run good, im about to get another hu but is there anything i can do or just trow it away....

 

it could be a problem with your stock wiring. that's not likely though. i would think that either the wiring coming out of the back of the head unit has a short somewhere or the wiring which connects to the face plate has a short. either way if you're out of warranty on the deck you may just have to scrap it and get a new unit. keep trying though because it may turn out to be something quite simple that is causing your problems.

 

Some of the wiring has to be loose somewhere. Take the radio out and unconnect and then reconnect everything and see if that helps.
