Messing w/ the bose system :(

Well, today I successfully picked up the amp/sub combo below:

Rockford Punch 12" Dual Subs:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...76&type=product
Rockford Fosgate Punch 1500W 2 Channel:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...67&type=product

So I decide all I need is to find a place to get a solid head unit, and another place to get everything installed at. So I go take a visit to Circuit City, and the salesman says it'll be an extra $70 since I have the bose in there, just cause they have to wire a bunch of **** from all the speakers to the center, or something like that. I asked about some "adapter" I might need, but he said I don't need anything like that.

Then I go to a local audio place, and they said they can install the subs/amp with wiring for about $130 I beleive it was, but then I tell them I have the Bose system. The guy strongly recommended that I change the speakers also for the best results.. he said there is an adapter which will cost me an extra $100, but there are even quality issues if I decide to keep the stock speakers, for example the speakers "flicking" right when you turn on the system.

I was really planning on keeping the speakers, but can some of you guys give me some advice. I really can't afford paying another $300+ for new speakers.

Thanks,
Dan

When I had my Bose w/sub&amp, it sounded fine. You don't need to buy new set of speakers... The guy at CC was trying to make some $$..

Well, for the "best" results, you probably should change the speakers. That doesn't mean that the bose wont work just fine. You will need an adapter, but I agree that the guy was probably just trying to make some extra money since you didnt buy the subs or amp at his store.

F-it, might as well go all out. I'll probabaly just go get new speakers tomorrow. I'm just about completely out of money now.

Oh well, least I'll be enjoying some punch in my music.

I've never really experienced a mean sound system before, so I should be impressed when I buy the rest of my stuff and install tomorrow. I'm so used to that Bose, oh yeah and my parents 98 camry le stereo.

Why should he need a high low converter if he is replacing the hu?

I have the bose too and I said f-it. I ran all new wires to all my speakers, 33 hours later, I had a nice sound system

Hey guys I work at circuit around here and yea i was thinking about getting a new system in my car. Yea it is expensive to do but it is alot better to get all new speakers. Im just gona wait till i cant take the listening ot the bose any more. But let me know i might be able to hook you up with a discount. And by the way we dont work on commission.

fyi, the bose speakers are 1 ohm. Many decks and amps are not capable of driving 1 ohm loads very long, if at all.

I know in the '02, the Bose tweeter is 4ohm (says so in the back) and my multimeter tells me the front 6.5" are 2.6ohm. I suggest you check your speaker impedance to determine how you are going to connect the factory speakers to the head unit. If they are 1ohm, forget it as you will eventually blow channels out of the HU.
