what settings should i use to have the optimal amount of bass without distortion?

well i dont mind if my sub gets little distorted but

i have a controller on the amp that says LPF im assuming thats low pass filter. its on a scale from 50hz to 300hz, where should i put it?

theres low boost {40hz} and its from 0db to 10 db.

theres Level thats from 6 volts to .3volts. [well this is my gain but should i have it 3/4 way or half way?

and should i have my sunsonic filter on or off? thanks

I donno bout the low boost I guess you have to try it out in diff settings.

my new car is great. and for audio mods I'll prob go small. just enough to be happy with it. right now the bose is nice....

if your spk are distorting you most likely have the settings to high. try lowering the gain. leave the hz at 75 the boost in the middle and the gain you have to test at diff settings. try that.

but after all they shouldn't distort.

I've heard that using a more than a little bit of bass boost is bad for the sub, because it sends out dirty power.

wrong, thats why they distort. it might sound good in low volume but sound like crap when turned up.

well i was using a hi low but my hu i tink is 2 volts? and it doesnt sound no where as loud as my hi low adapter rcas.

so far i set lpf at 70,
bass boost at 10db[about 80% turned up] and
gains at .5 volts [75%].

i dont have to worry aout blowing the sub, because the sub is doulbe the rms of the amp. and i have my subsoninc filter off

As others have suggested, try setting the xover to around 70Hz for STARTERS. Turn the gain and bass boost all the way down. Put in a good CD that contains the amount of bass considered typical to your musical tastes and that you're familiar with (I find that "Vogue" by Madonna is a good song and I use that as an example because a lot of people have access to it, but literally any song with some good, dynamic bass will do). Turn the HU volume up as high as you can for maximum undistorted sound on your full-range speakers (it should be at least at 3/4 or more in most cases). Using this volume setting, turn up the gain for the sub for maximum undistorted sound. This voume level should be pretty loud and should be playing undistorted. Then play around with your bass boost to suit your personal tastes. Just remember that even the smallest amount of bass boost at 40Hz requires a lot of power. You really shouldn't need that much, but whatever sounds best to you is what you're looking for. You can then play around with the xover settting to best suit your tastes, too. 70Hz is by no means "ideal" for everyone, but it's a great starting point and quite a few people like this setting. But there's too many factors to consider to say that any frequency is best for everyone.

BTW...by setting up your sub gains and settings like I've explained above, I'm assuming that your full-range speaker amps are already properly set up.

You should do it the other way around.
