That sub in your picture is a Brahma Sub from Adire Audio. Not sure what size it is, but they have them in 10",12",15". I'm actually gettin 1 12" real soon. Those subs are supposed to be great for SQ and SPL.

-Yeah and by the way I've never really heard of anyone hookin up 2 amps to 1 sub, 2 subs to 1 amp-yes, but 2 amps to 1 sub....I don't know .... never heard of that.

My 2 RF punch z's can wake up my whole hood. It's all in the way everything is setup. And I have done one setup with 2amps to 1 sub. Mainly because the sub had a high RMS, and the dumbo I setup it for didn't pony up enough cash to get 1 amp that could push it. Wasn't a fun setup at all, I'll tell you.

Mainly your choices for everything will be determined on what you want. A lot of SPL, Awesome SQ, or like my setup both. Here's a little rundown that'll help

SPL- Vented or Bandpass, depending upon what music you listen to. AB series amp. Subs Bridged

SQ- Sealed, maybe vented, D series amp works best. Crossover can help too. Seperate channel setup works best.

SPL/SQ- Vented works best, D series amp, can be done with AB, crossover recommended with AB. Can use either Bridged or seperate channel

And of course, certain subs work best with certain amps... ETC ETC. The easiest way to do it, is find out what you're looking for, and go from there. I'm a big fan of Memphis so I can give my recommendations fro those.

M-Class Sub, and Amps- Great for SQ or SPL/SQ setups. SQ is best with sealed, Vented for SPL/SQ

Mojo Series, great for SPL- you usual competition series subs and amps.

wow thanks guys,
sorry so sounds like such a dumby but what is SQ and SPL? Im looking for a very clean, but very loud bass. My bose thumps ok but i just need more. I listen to a variety of music. Im very interested in Audio but i have never been exposed much to it. Could you guys list your setups, or a setup that you would suit me well?

Thanks guys.. Oh is there any web site that could help me learn some more about this.

man some of these subs are insane! Just a few quick questions, how are JL Audio, Audiobahn, and Infinity? Say i got 1 JL Audio 10w6 what kind of amp would you suggest to run it at its full potential? What kind of box/setup would i need to use? i feel like a newb!

BTW: ive been browsing through the sticky about what in your trunk, and i see a lot of people running 2 subs with one amp. Is this practical?

How hard is it to build something like that? Most of my buddys just have a giangatianic box that takes up gobs of space. HOw would i go along the lines of building something like that? I think it would be a great winter project!

thanks guys

Alright, the easiest way is to find a local sound shop... DEFINTLEY DON'T GO TO BEST BUY!!!!!!!!!! If you're looking to build your own, try still going to the local shop, and talking with them on the best design and specs for your sub.

Most systems today are run 2 subs per 1 amp. Because most amps today are built 2 channel, or 4 channel.

Here's the defintion for the different styles

SQ- Sound quality, this defines systems that provide clear, clean beats.

SPL- Speaker Pressure Level, The amount of pressure the subs put out, measured in db's (usauly competition lvl)

SQ/SPL- Both, these systems put out some clean base, but has pressure to it

Since you want to have some feel to it, and listen to a variety of music. I would recommend a SQ setup. Gives you the clarity for pop and rock music, and give some decent hits for Rap and R&B.

What you found would be more than enough. As for the sub, I can't say off hand without looking up the specs. Taking a guess off the top of my head, a 500x1 would do just fine. With the sub in a sealed box.

If you want to put that sub like that and get maximum bass at the same time you need to completely seal off the trunk and make it a "box"

to seal off the trunk would i use somethink like Dynomat? I dont want the trunk to rattle. So say a JL Audio 10W6 with a 500w amp? What do you mean but a "sealed" box?

Does anyone have or know anything about this sub: Adire Shiva MkIV - 12"
http://www.speedsound.com/caraudio.a...ific=jmronnmpe
Some people in a thread i dug up on page 12 really liked these. Seems cheap? What kind of amp would you recommend that would power this baby nicely? Also would i need some kind of deadening? Lastly, how hard is it to make a custom setup? Thanks

yep. i just happen to have 2 of them. you can get one for $115 shipped from visionaryaudio.com. i think the special is still going on. a 300 watt amp in a 1.5 cuft sealed box stuffed would be perfect. or if you want to go ported go for around 2-2.5 cubes tuned to about 28-32. id deaden after you have the setup... 300 watts sealed is not that much imo. but ported is another story.

You could do that. But what I really meant is that a subwoofer box has NO holes in it. It's completely sealed off. Thats what you have to do to the trunk, completely seal it off.
