i want to upgrade my stereo but...

I want to upgrade the stereo in my 2001 I30, but have some questions. I don't want to replace the stock Bose HU due to cosmetic and cost reasons. I want to add aftermarket speakers and a sub. I plan on purchasing a 5 channel amplifier to power everything. is this possible with the Bose HU? I don't want to get the HU all stressed out. How would this sound compared to an aftermarket HU? Thanks in advance for any help.

just go w/ an aftermarket. Get a nice touch screen and you would be set.

if you dont know already, us i30/i35 owners dont have a face kit...i personally will be getting a plastic guy color match and make me one, but its not available to the public. Another option you have is bondo/fiberglass.

As for the 5 channel amp, from what ive seen 5 channel amps are the greatest.
get a mono amp or a 2channel for the subwoofer and a 4 channel for the interiors. i believe you can tap into the left rear for the sub and the right rear for the speakers (correct me if im wrong). and for the sound quality, you cant beat the sound processing by a nice headunit, eclipse, alpine, kenwood etc...

i agree that it would sound better, but i dont have the cash for a touch screen unit or anything like that. i also dont have the cash to pay some fool to custom paint my dash. i think that if i were to get a DIN unit and have with a kit, it would be way too costly, and it would probbaly look terrible as well.
