Hey guys.

I just have a question about wiring my amp. I was talking to a guy at my local car audio shop (a very reputable dealer) about wiring my amp. I have an MTX 2 channel amp i want to bridge to my jl w3v2 dual 6 ohm sub. The amp is two ohm stable, but the guy @ the car audio shop said I would be safe bridging the amp down to 1.5 ohms if i had big enough power and ground wires. Have you guys ever done this, if so, what happened. The guy I talked to really seemed to know his $hit, but I guess i want a second opinion.

This 'reputable' guy is misinforming you badly. Most likely to watch you blow your amp so he can sell you a new one. Powerwire has Nothing whatsoever to do with what impedance an amp will allow you to run at. Further more if your bridging your amp to run one dual 6Ohm sub, you will be at 3Ohm, Not 1.5. Either tell the guy to stop lying or kn ow what hes talking about before it leaves his mouth. Plain and simple.

^^ can't argue with the man. that guy is full of crap. ask him when he installs amps if he normall runs them below what they are safe to run at.

 

Of course he does so he can sell ya new ones again. LoL
