Anybody using a 8" sub in the rear deck?
I remember seeing a pic of a 5th gen with an aftermarket 8" sub, in a enclosure mounted in the bose sub location. Anybody try doing this? I need all the trunk space, but want deeper bass than the bose sub can give. What 8" subs require the least amount of air space? Who makes the best 8" sub without breaking the bank?

Well, I have a 4th gen, which doesn't have a stock sub. But I enlarged the stock holes in the rear deck, made custom baffles, and mounted an 8 on each side with an aperiodic enclosure underneath the rear deck for each sub. I have lots of tight bass with practically no trunk space consumed. So you can look into using an aperiodic enclosure to save space.

i have an 8" Arc Audio sub installed in my rear deck. to be honest, i dont know how much it cost, it was in a package i got from Don. its used as a freeair sub, and it bumps very nicely for my tastes. the amp is turned up about halfway, and stting my volume up about 2/3s of the way produces pretty good bass for what it is. i have component speakers and 6.5s, which helps, but i think that its really good. not bone rattling bass, but much much better and clearer and louder than the bose.
