96' I30 / Bose went out? :bawling:

Hey all.
My bose radio just went dead. I pulled in the garage and shut her down, when I cranked it up later, the radio did not have power. Of course I checked the fuse box and all were good. I tried to remove the trim pieces but was unsuccesful. I was trying to put a meter on it to see if there is power to the unit.
Anyone else had this problem or have a suggestion?

I'd like to get it running cause I dont sing so well!

That's great!!!

Seriously, Blose sucks. Now, go invest in a new Headunit/Speakers setup. Get a Single DIN DVD Player and throw a 7" Screen in the Double DIN spot. You'll love it and so will everyone else be jealous of you.

So start singin from the gut big boy! You'll be like Frank Sinatra in no time.

It's personal opinion, but I think in the realm of factory stereo equipment Bose does NOT suck. Compared to most aftermarket stuff, it isn't as good but if he was happy with the Bose, why replace it? I've been happy with mine and the only addition I've made has been a 10" JL Audio subwoofer, and I didn't even install that until about 9 months after I bought the car.

If the Bose is dead, definitely invest in a quality head unit and potentially some good speakers. If you were happy with it before, see if you can fix it. I have, however, heard stories of Bose crapping out like that though.

Well, you're right too. I WAS happy with Bose, except I wanted a TV flush mounted along with a DVD Headunit in my car. The fact that if you switch out the Bose HU, any other HU will not be able to work with the system is whack and sucks. The fact that they're speakers are 2 ohms instead of 4 is stupid too. This makes the system only solely able to run with it's own brand HU. Which in a way, I guess is smart on one side of the business field to get people to use their products, but how many people really want the stock and may I add, DOUBLE DIN - HU?

Like I said tho, I was satisfied with the sound from the speakers especially for comin Stock with a car, but dreaded the HU.
