Comments, recommendations, thoughts on Image Dynamics

I'm hoping to get new subs soon... my CDT components might stay the same... although I've been thinking of others but I need subs.. one of mine has a hole in the cone.

Image Dynamics... http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/webs...ducts/idq.html Anyone have experience with them? Mind you these arent the ID Maxs which go for about $500 each... these are their lower end models...

Same with their components.. anyone have experience with their HLCD components? http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/webs.../hornsets.html

Just researching for now...

My understanding is that they are quite good sound quality (especially for the money) I think I'm going to be getting a baby 8", or possibly a 10"...I can't decide.

What CDT's do you have?

There's some pretty detailed reviews of the 10" here if you go to "Click here to learn more about the IDSIDQ10D4V2"

Very nice... I didnt know there was a 3rd version.. on their website they only have upto 2. http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/webs...cts/index.html
I'm looking for some very good SQ.. these have tempted me from the very beginning. Currently I have the same CDT components slickrick has... CL 61A's with CDT coaxials out back...

I've pretty much made my mind as to these so far... just wanna know peoples experiences with them... I'm hoping to actually get all my speakers from Image Dynamics.. components for the front, mids for the deck and 12" subs as well...

What about amps? Right now I have a RF 400x4 powering all the interior speakers and a cheapo lanzar vibe 1500 watt amp pushing my RF HX2 12's... thanks guys.

I currently have CDT EF61i's up front and a single IDMAX 12 in the trunk in a 2.3-2.4 cu ft ported box (working on a 1.5 cu ft sealed glass box, one day) on 600 watts. The sub hits extremely accurate considering it is a ported box and running with 60% power. I highly recommend them. To purchase them find the lowest price you can on the net then cruise on over to ww.sounddomain.com or ww.cardomain.com and use their price matching. I was able to get mine for 293 shipped brand new with a full factory warrantee. If you do get the ID make sure you follow proper break in procedure and be very careful with the cone, many people push the cone up and down and mess up the voice coil. If you need any help or want more info just ask

*Edit* My amp right now is a Kicker KX800.4 125x4 or 600X2. sub is low passed at about 75hz, slight bass boost at the amp, box is tuned to ~33

I have gone to several dB drags, not with this set up but others. Compared with those I honestly feel I am upwards 140 dB on the older mics, maybe like 135ish on the new ones. I still haven't had the chance to push this system to the edge I have gotten up to about 90% of max volume and it blew my mind. The other systems I have to comapre this one to (well at least those of any consiquence) two Infinty perfectos on a infinity beta digital amp (about 1kw) sealed, 136 in a single cab nissan truck (this was not a very good instal should of been higher but the box was small). The other system I can compare to is two eclipse alum's in a sealed box, running off a Rockford Fosgate 1000bd in a extended cab toyota truck, this one is cleaner because it is sealed but I think I am still about the same, if not about 1 or 2 dB higher, not much. I would like to get one more, but that would just be for semitry in the trunk. and unless you are going to be going to sound offs all the time, I highly recomend going sealed. It might not get as loud but it will sound sooo much better.

ive heard id max's should be sealed only. but id be afraid of the lack of output of just one. where did you pricematch it from? and also it sounds like you like the ported setup but you still want to change. what do you not like about the ported setup and what do you like? ive run sealed all my life and i want to go ported with a supersub but unfortunately i have not heard a supersub/ported setup before.

I can't really remember where I pricematched, just looked really quickly and it looks like a lot of people pulled there ID product lines so I am not too sure where still sells it. I always think my ported system sounds good untill I go listn to my buddies system with the sealed alum's, which is a lower sub, and it just sounds so much better it seems. The only time the sub doesn't seem to sound good is with really really fast metal or techno, kinda like Static X. Other then that it has a warm envolping sound, excelent for jazz or clasical. Rap, man I can rattle windows up and down the block. So it all comes down to what kinda music you enjoy and the speed of your bass. I am sure if I was running more power say 1kw or so I think the sub could move a lot faster and sound a lot better ported, but I am broke right now so I can't test this hypothisis.

*Edit* The site I pricematched was www.carmedia1.com

yeah its really hard to find ID except ebay and sd. hmmm sounds like ported is my answer. im kind of getting tired of the punchiness, it almost hurts to sit in my car sometimes on certain songs. it feels like someone is punching me almost. i want that nice low, warm surrounding bass. looks like ported for me!

96GreenMax: Very good info... Thanks a whole lot... now I"m definately gonna go with the ID's... I'm gonna get 2 12's... now my concern is ported or sealed I have a nice enclosure I"m currently using and I'll want to use again but its sealed...

Like I said I'll most likely use ID components and mids out back with 12's.. who knows maybe I'll get some sponsorship from them.. well not really but I'm looking for something alot cleaner than I have right now. Rockfarts are too boomy for me...

If you want superb SQ, the IDQ v2 and the Arc Audio V2(which is what the IDQv3 will inherently be, because it has not been released yet) are your best bet- it may be months before they release the v3's
