Louder, hard to tell. Extending the ports to go through the rear deck might change how the box sounds. If you prop the box up so it's flat against the deck, you should be alright. But of course, you have the speakers back there.

Having a program would really help, that way it can make adjustments for extending the ports. It'll be louder having it go into the cabin itself. But it'll get annoying really fast.

Facing back might actually be your best bet.

what do you mean though by saying it will get annoying, is it because of how loud it will be, or because it will sound bad, or what?

Possibilty of some port whistle, but that depends upon what type of port you use. The slots are the best I believe. It won't really sound bad, unless you push your subs too far, and distort them. And after awhile, the air pressure does get annoying.

well it doesn't really matter what shape the port is in as long as the port area is the same.

Port material is what I was actually going for. MDF that sucker all the way up. Or Fiberglass.

edit, I was thinking of the old days for some reason, with the stupid plastic round ports. Those things always gave off an annoying whistle.

Ports/vents should typically be on the same plane as the drivers.

if you cut two holes in the rear deck and put ports in them, with a rear facing single 12" would that increase the bass at all? Whenever i want bass, i open up the ski opening in the middle of the seat and it helps, but lets people see whats in my trunk if i forget to close it when i park.

why would you put 2 ports for a single 12? if you port it through the rear deck you will get more bass in the cabin, for example kinda like a suv. no one could really see through the ski hole unless there lying on your hood looking striaght through your front windshield
