lol that question is ripping me apart right now.its either they alpine type R dvc 4ohm. or the Resonant engineering SE dual 4 ohm. the type R is 160 and the se is 190 shipped.
i mean alpines sell like rice man. everyone around here has the type Rs, and i want to bass louder than others you know. and around here, ppl buy 2 typeR 12s not one. So even if i get one type R 12 no way am i going to sound better than others. the thing is that RE 12 handles 600rms, and the most i could push with this amp is 350[which i doubt cuz it has no birth sheet. im guessin this amp pushes 320 rms the most]. here are the specs you guys decide.
type R

sell the amp? why? isnt 350 good enough?
btw i found these posts on tempro.com this is a se vs a l7
Personally, unless I was going with the HC, I wouldnt get RE. The L7's are loud subs, and the se being Re's lowest line, I'd put the L7 above the se. I just bought a 15" XXX, upgrading from a 12"L7 that got a 146.5 with 1200 watts.
It totally depends on your power range. With limited power, the SE's will be louder. When it comes to big a$$ power, the L7 will handle alot more than the SE. Thats your biggest dillema...
It's hip to be square. Go with the proven winner

lol id take that post with LESS than a grain of salt my man. thats 1 ignorant opinion. im not going to completely destroy his credibility but heres a clue... the SE series is NOT Re's lowest line. so therefore hes already incorrect on 1 point in 3 sentences. i am happy that you are searhcing audio forums though.

2 Da Max, nice amplifier. I just bought one of their amps as well. I went with an MRD-M501. I installed it last week and it is pushing a Soundsplinter 10" dvc sub that I bought two weeks ago. I am very happy with this combinaiton. I had an older Kicker ZR240 in there but it could no longer handle a 2ohm mono load. Luckily the Alpine was on sale at Crutchfiled for $299 shipped . Here is a pic of it.

mrd m501, how much watts does that push? right now its too cold to do anything, i still need to build a new amp rack for the cap, fuse blocks, alpine amp, and eclipse amp, and xovers. not to mention I NEED A SUB lol. man that RE SE has that want me now look, while the typeR has that innocent puppy eye dog look.... maybe i should end it all and get an xplod sub

i guess im going to have to go with the typeR sub guys.... i mean 350 wont really do nothing to an re sub that handles 600rms. or what if i turn the gains a little past half way, and turn the bass boost up?

i doubt it, im trying to call them but there lines are always busy. i sent them the email from the link on their site, and that address does not work.
my dealer called me today saying they got a new shipment of alpine products, they got a typer 12 in a ported alpine box for 250, i might go check it out today.

I think you are correct. If you go with the recommended sealed enclosure that is on the bigger side, you will get more excursion from your sub with a given amount of power when compared to a smaller enclosure with the same power.
