shivas are nice, ask slickrick hell tell you a good amp to power those bad boys. see if you could get a 600x1 and run 300 each, or you could get those jbl amps for cheap off of sounddomain.com for 150 each i think. they put out 300rms that should be, wait i forgot how much the shiva can handle. lol neways the shiva is a great sub.

lol i dont know about shaking the block but it can shake my walls if i really want to. anyway they are DVC8. so get 2, wire them in parallel for a 2 ohm load then pick an amp accordingly. however, the shivas will not be restocked until february sometime so save up. also power is dependant on box size but i say about 250-300 per sub is perfect. one of these days ill find a somewhat deserted place to boom out and show you what these ugly *** subs can do... and my tv!

allegedly the mark iv is 16.6 but its not a big difference. however, the sub can go past xmax without nuking itself which is nice.

According to the 13W7 manual, the xmax is 32mm. Both TC Sounds and Destijl Engineering (RE) have subs with an xmax in the 40+mm range. Adire has a motor with more than 100mm of xmax.

how dare you mention the parthenon with these common folk subs! xmax isnt everything these days. the new RE sub has some sick excursion from what ive seen though. for a decent prefab box id check out bigdogaudio on ebay. he either builds em or gets em cheap from somewhere in miami but ive bought 2 and their solid for the price.

They might not be ready for it. There was some interesting discussion over at DIY Audio about building one from scratch. There was even a professional transducer engineer from India getting in on the discussion. WAYYYYY over my head.

I just ordered a truck box from Sound Off Audio. They have a site but sell via eBay for about 25% less. Basic boxes with carpet are under $20. Mine should be here in about a week to 10 days.

haha figures. kind of a shady business but the boxes were solid. just look for a box thats made of 3/4 mdf all around. once you get it just re-seal the inside to be sure. however, id pick a box size pending the power you give the subs too.
