Havent heard them personally but a friend who works at Sound Advice said theyre a leap and bound beyond last years, that theyre not as bright and the midbass is much better.

As for the dynamat....both

It doesn't matter which side you put the Dynamat onto; mass is added to the sheet metal either way. I put 2 layers onto the top of my rear deck so it is concealed by the rear deck trim panel.

what do you mean as not as bright, maybe you can ask your friend which is the best position for the tweeter(I plan to put a set of the new pros on the rear deck)I got the old pros in all 4 doors, the rear doors the tweeters are mounted flush aside the speaker

Bright describing the sound itself, mainly the tweeter. So I assume you are going just for loudness that is clear?...It wont be much of a sound stage with speakers in that many locations, so IMO the tweeter location wont matter for those rears. I mean if you are just looking for something different you can mount them in the pillar but then if you are sitting in the back, you will hear one tweeter right in your ear which I think sucks, but whatever floats your boat. I guess I cant really give a good answer without knowing what else you have, what else you plan on doing, and what you plan on getting out of your system overall.

Boston's are a bit bright, but the crossover network gives the ability to attenuate the tweeters down to -6dB if I remember correctly. Bostons are some of the best speakers out there. I'd never pay for the new stuff tho ... find a used pair of the older Pro series and you will be just as happy.

Try looking for some Canton's on eBay too, they have a similar sound with less notariety (sp?) and you could probably get them cheaper than Bostons.

well I have a kenwood ktv911 for the headunit, a Alpine F540 pushing the door speakers(old boston pro series)and just with that for me its not loud enough, I feel like its missing just a little bit more. As for the bass I have 2 jlaudio w7 10s with a jl audio 1000 pushing, but its not installed yet, I want to get the highs and mids how I want it then Ill move on to the trunk. So thats why I was thinking another pair of boston pros should do it with my alpine T420 pushing that, the tweeter would probly be best mounted on top of the speaker and grill of the speaker flush with the rear deck trim panel so it looks low profile. Id rahter focus on high and mids more than the bass because of the music I listen to(merengue, bachata, salsa, reggaeton, merengue tipico, that music doesnt have heavy bass more highs and mids than anything; except for the reggaeton)......so what you think

Get a bigger amp on your Boston's up front. Rear speakers should be used for rear fill ONLY. You should barely be able to tell you have rear speakers when sitting in the front seat. Those Boston Pro's can take a lot of wattage (give em at least 150W RMS each side), and I think that's where you should focus your energy.

I see what you mean, you dont want the rears to over power the fronts as to where you can only here the rear speakers....which is better or does even make a difference in sound, the door speakers wires spliced through the factory speaker wires or its own set of wires all the way to the amp from the speaker

Use dedicated wire if you have the energy. Worst case is to use the factory wiring, but it's better to leave that alone so when you sell the car, you can turn it back to stock easier.
