if you live in texas the car is going to be hot all th e time. Do you really want to smell that stuff every time you get in the car? Just do your trunk or something... Doing the whole car seems kinda ridiculous.

Dynamat doesn't smell. Doing the whole car would yield almost a luxury feel to the Maxima.

My 1990 Honda Accord Coupe 5MT had the whole trunk dynamatted. Never once did I smell it in the 2 years I had the car with Dynamat. I always had the seats folded down because it yielded a +3dB gain with my Infinity Beta 15 DVC on my Soundstream Class A 6.0. Car was always parked outside, although usually in the shade. Perhaps in Tampa in the summertime if you always parked your car in direct sunlight it may smell, but I would think you'd also smell the dash melting too ...

I dynomatted my entire trunk and man did it make a hell of a difference. Took me about 3.5 hours from start to finish and that included cleaning the trunk to get rid of solvents, grease, and grime. In some areas I have 2 layers of Dynomat and I used Extreme in the entire trunk. Just do the trunk and you will be pleased at the results. My rear deck lid is what gave me the most problem but even now that's not a problem after using some Fatmat liquid deadener. And no there are no smells at all.

If they have an Extreme trunk kit, get it. It will come close but you may have to go with the bulk kit. A little extra deadening won't hurt. I used 1 Trunk kit and I still needed a little more to cover the spare tire well and some along the back seat panel.

Is it really neccessary to do the spare tire well? Does it help? Is it worth doing?

Believe or not, a lot of noise comes from the spare tire well. It's a good measure to cover up the sparetire well. Fatmat will work just as good as Dynomat.
