With my car, which is a 99, I just followed one of the battery cables. One of them leads to the fender wall I believe. You can definately find it if you jack up your car, take off the tires, and pop off the fender well cover. I sort of had problems opening the well cover and broke a few screws but it can be replaced at a tire specialist (e.g. NTB). The best tool to use here would be one of those trim removal tools. There's also a few phillips screws on the edges. Once open you will find the hole that leads from the engine bay and a battery cable running through the hole leading to a rubber grommet. You're gonna have to cut a hole through the grommet and poke your amp power cable through it. I just installed mines last week and it works fine. Hope that helps. PM me if you have ne more questions.

I wish I took the time to look for a grommet/openings in my 3rd gen before drilling a hole through the firewall
