Bose system completely out
I got a 96 max with a bose system, panasonic head unit and an alpine sub. Today while I was on the highway, all of my bose speakers stopped working but my sub was still putting out sound. Has this happened to anybody else?

Same thing just happened to me this weekend, but I have an 02 with the Bose system and JVC head. The sound is actually in and out while I'm driving; more out than in.
I'm thinking the Bose amp is out; I'm not sure how the system is set up on the 96. I have to plug up my sub and amp and if they put out some sound like yours, then at least I know it's not the head unit. (It's still getting power right now)
This afternoon I even chased wires behind the head unit and didn't find anything. The wiring to the bose amp looks good. But it looks like this'll be a time consuming process.
If one speaker was grounding out, do you think it would cause the other ones to cut out?

i'm pretty car illiterate, i looked for fuses that said speakers under the hood and under the steering wheel but saw nothing that said speakers. Is there another place I could look?
This morning I turned on my radio to find that it worked for about 5 minutes but then cut out again.

It's Going To Be The Bose Adapter That Connects The Speakers And Their Amp To Run Thru The Headunit! For Example You Should Probably Have A Periphial Or Sumthin Like That, ( That's The Namebrand Of The Bose Adapter ) Once That Goes Out You Will Not Get Sound From Your Bose Speakers. It's Very Unlikely That All Of Your Bose Speakers Have Blown At The Same Time, So The Good News Is All You Should Have To Do Is Swap Out The Adapter With A New One! I Have Had 2 Maxes And Have Always Kept The Bose Speakers Inside , They Sound Awesome. I Have An Alpine Cd Deck And Polm Momo Subs Runnin Off A Hifonics Brutus 1000 And The Combo Of The Subs And Stock Bose Speakers Inside Is Actually A Very Very Great Sound Quality! The Bose Can Produce Those Great Mids And Highs Especially With The Tweeters In The Max! Do Not Swap Out The Bose Speakers, Those Are More Than Likely Not Blown, Good Luck With Changing The Bose Adapter, Like I Said I Think The Name Brand Of The Adapter Is Periphial ! It's Like $20 At Circuit City!

Jc96, You Should Not Have To Replace It Routinely , I Have Had My Periphial Adaptor For About 4yrs Now And It Has Been Good For Me, Knock On Wood Now That I Mention It! You May Have Hit A Bump That Could Have Caused Wires To Come Loose Or If It Is Not Secure Behind The Dash, It May Have Just Taken A Beating! I Used 3m Double Sided Tape To Secure Mine Behind The Dash, And It Has Been Good Since, Even With The Ac/heat That Is Behind The Dash, Tape Has Not Come Undone! Good Luck!
